Dragon Tea
I imagined a culture such as ours back in the Edwardian times when Orientalism and tea was really popular that traditional Chinese Dragons would be both the mascots and guardians of teas production and consumption. I also imagined that the Tea Dragons would be a ladies best friend, keeping the tea warm once poured, guarding a ladies secrets from gossipers, transferring messages to lovers and providing companionship.

  1. Hi Belinda,

It was lovely to meet you at the SCBWI workshop yesterday.

I've just been enjoying some of your beautiful drawings - I can't believe what you said about feeling intimidated by others in the US - your stuff is wonderful! Well, it is just the kind of style of I really like - reminds me a bit of Waterhouse, who is one of my favourite painters. And I just LOVE your idea of the "Tea Dragons"!! What a brilliant idea/concept - wish I'd thought of that myself! :-) I think you should write that story - it is so original.

Anyway, looking forward to catching up with you at future SCBWI events.

    best wishes,
    Hsin-Yi

    1. Hi Hsin-Yi
it was great to meet you too! Thanks for the lovely comments, Waterhouse is one of my favourites too - I would pour over his paintings for hours and have copied a few of his.
Maybe one day I will write about the tea dragons... however if you are inspired please feel free to write it yourself! Just make sure I get to illustrate the cover of your book ;)
